Privacy
No cookies. No tracking.
This website is a static page about the open-source Quizify project. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and runs no analytics.
What happens when you visit
The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a service of Google (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). To deliver the pages, Google's servers necessarily process your IP address and standard request data (time, requested file, browser type) and keep it in their hosting logs. This happens to deliver the site and keep it secure, which is a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Google may process this data outside the EU, including in the USA, on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details: Firebase privacy and security.
Fonts and images
All fonts and images are served from this website itself. Nothing is loaded from Google Fonts or a CDN.
GitHub star count
The start page shows how many stars the project has on GitHub. To keep that number current, your browser asks the public GitHub API (api.github.com) for it once when the start page loads. That request goes to GitHub (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), which receives your IP address and standard request data. No cookies or login are sent, and the request carries no referrer. We do this to show an up-to-date figure, a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; GitHub may process the data in the USA on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details: GitHub General Privacy Statement. If the request fails or JavaScript is off, the page shows the number from its last build. This is the only request to a third party while you browse; the privacy page itself makes none.
Links to other sites
Links to GitHub and Home Assistant open those sites only when you click them. From then on their own privacy policies apply.
And Quizify itself?
Quizify runs inside your own Home Assistant, on your network. There is no Quizify account and no Quizify server; guests only type a name, and games, scores and statistics are stored in your Home Assistant configuration folder. Question packs, pictures, fonts and sounds ship with the integration, so playing a game loads nothing from the internet.
Quizify itself makes outbound requests in one opt-in case only: community pack submission. It is off until you enter a submission address in the integration's options. Then a pack or pack request you submit is sent to that address, and Quizify checks the status of the resulting GitHub issue through the public GitHub API (api.github.com) about once an hour while a submission is pending.
Two features use services you choose in Home Assistant: spoken narration goes through the text-to-speech engine you picked, and if that engine is a cloud service, the question text is sent there; lobby music plays from the address you enter. Guests who join through Nabu Casa reach your Home Assistant over your remote URL.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict processing of your data, to object, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. This website itself keeps no personal data about you.
